Currently I am in the process of fixing all of our other posts to make them right.

Week 3: Update, Proposal & Budget

Update:
- Still currently searching for the best binding agent / material to put the bottles together
- Updated materials with budget
- Wrote proposal

Proposal:
Everyday people waste multitudes of plastic bottles worldwide. The plastic bottle lifespan depending on its size only lasts to about ten minutes to up to a couple days, which is not long. After the “death” one of three things happen to the bottles: 1) they are littered in the environment 2) they are just thrown away in regular garbage collection or 3) they are recycled. With recycling moving forward every year there are still millions of plastic bottles that are just being wasted. Which is why my partner and I propose the idea of building of a boat out of plastic bottles as it could easily recycle about four hundred to eight hundred bottles, depending on the design and structure of the boat.

Budget + Materials:

  • (?) Recycled Plastic Coca-Cola Bottles of various sizes (2 liter, 1.5 liter, etc.)* . . . . . Free
  • (8) 1/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. x 8 ft. Pressure-Treated Southern Yellow Shortleaf Pine Lath . $7.76
  • Nails . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $2.37
  • Binding Material ** . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  $ . . .

Total: $10.13

* They are going to be collected from various sources
** We are currently still looking to find the best binding agent / material in order to attach the plastic bottles together, this will be added later with a completed price.
